As scientists around the world work hard to find a vaccine for COVID-19, some have turned to nature for the answer.

Yes, Canadian researchers are actually looking at acai berries to see if it can treat or prevent COVID-19’s most severe symptoms.

According to a report in AFP-Relaxnews, the researchers are investigating this particular berry because there were past studies that indicate it has inflammation inhibitors.

A berry good solution.

Worth a shot

“It’s a long shot. But acai berries are cheap and easily accessible for everyone, as well as safe, so it was worth trying,” said University of Toronto scientist Michael Farkouh who is taking a closer look at the berry with colleague Ana Andreazza.

With the study, the pair is hoping that early intervention with acai berries could help prevent some of the disease’s worst symptoms because the fruit’s extract specifically targets the same NLRP3 pathway as the coronavirus.

A natural cure?

Results of the study are expected to be released by the end of 2020.

We're all for natural solutions so we're really rooting for these scientists.

Hopefully the results are good!
