We've read plenty of stories (hopefully, you guys didn't experience it yourself) of people taking a bite into their food or a sip in their drink and realising that it is not what you've ordered.

Well, that was exactly what happened to a woman from the Philippines.

What a surprise!

Alique Perez had the shock of her life when the fried chicken she ordered from a fast food restaurant wasn't fried chicken.

In fact, it wasn't chicken at all!

Perez took to Facebook to relate the horrific incident:

According to Perez, she ordered a set meal from Jollibee on 1 June where she ordered a meal for her son.

The meal comes with a piece of deep fried chicken (or so she thought).

She then tried to cut the chicken into bite-size pieces for her son, but then she realised the piece of chicken was too hard.

It was when she tried to peel the ‘chicken’ with her hands that she made the awful discovery: the piece of fried chicken she was trying to cut all this while was a bundled-up towel covered in the crispy brown batter!

Ya, we know; puke!

Hey, that's not a chicken!
"This is disturbing... How the hell do you get the towel in the batter and even fry it?!" she wrote in her Facebook post that has since gone viral.

She said that this was the fist time she's experienced something like this, and it's already the worst experience ever (editor's note: we mean, it is pretty hard to top a fried towel).

"There's a first for everything. And this has been the worst for me!” she wrote, adding that she shuddered when she thought of the other pieces of chicken that got fried along with the towel and then sent out to unsuspecting customers.

Naturally, Perez took photos and videos of her fried towel as evidence before throwing the ‘chicken’ away.

Restaurant ordered to close

After Perez's post went viral, Jollibee Foods Corp. has ordered the outlet in question to temporarily close for a total of three days beginning 3 June because they failed to meet stringent food preparation procedures, news portal Bilyonaryo reported.

"We are deeply concerned about the matter and have conducted a thorough investigation on the incident. It is unfortnate that deviations from Jollibee’s standard food preparation procedures occured on the part of the certain personnel of the store," JFC said in a press statement.

The company added that it would thoroughly review the branch’s compliance with procedures, and retrain its store team to ensure that no other customers would receive a piece of fried towel ever again.

"We will also send out reminders to all stores to ensure the strict adherence to Jollibee’s food preparation systems," JFC added.
