After winning our hearts with his immaculate Bahasa Malaysia and his love for Malaysian food, William is without a doubt Malaysia's favourite mat salleh.

And guess what? He loves you guys very much too.

Nothing but love for Malaysia

In an Instagram post uploaded onto his account on Tuesday (14 September), the 29-year-old wrote that after speding eight years in the country, he now feels more at home in Malaysia compared to the United Kingdom where he's from.

Reminiscing his move to Malaysia, the social media personality and popular 'Mat Salleh Cari Makan' food vlogger posted an awesome #throwback picture of him posing with an empty plate of mee goreng he ordered from a stall outside his hotel on the first night he arrived in Kuala Lumpur.

William wrote -- in perfect Bahasa Malaysia, mind you -- that on 13 September 2013, he decided to sell everything he owned, packed everything else in one suitcase and move to KL.

"I arrived in Kuala Lumpur late at night on 14 September. Despite not knowing what will happen to me here, I was only certain of one dream, to live in Malaysia," he wrote.

The rest, as they say, is history.

"Eight years later, I'm grateful for what I have now, a career that I love and happily married with one kid.

"I truly felt welcomed here, and Malaysia has become 'home' to me, even though I'm still a British citizen," he wrote.

Despite admitting that his journey here in Malaysia wasn't as smooth sailing as he hoped it would be, he treated them as a challenge for him to overcome.

And now, he's happy to be here.

"When I look back at my decision to move here, it was the one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life. I am very happy to be here in Malaysia."
