Simple Coding And Fun Educational Quizzes; Tune In To Astro For Some Awesome Educational Content
Most of the major exams have been cancelled or postponed but knowledge is power.
And in order to retain that power, Astro is now offering more learning content for students stuck at home during the MCO.
Echoing the Ministry of Education's (MOE) approach of conducting learning sessions through television, Astro has taken a proactive step in
introducing a special slot, ‘Kuiz Pantas TTV’ through its education channel, Astro Tutor TV, for UPSR, PT3, and SPM students, from 11 to 18 April 2020.
Just turn on that tv, and you can continue to learn and keep up with the education syllabus from the comfort of your sofa.
Each 15-minute episode of ‘Kuiz Pantas TTV’ will be divided into 3 segments: learning, practice, and quiz.
In the quiz segment, students are required to upload a video of their solutions to the quiz to their own social media accounts and include the hashtag #KuizPantasTTV.
The questions will then be evaluated by a professional teacher, and in two hours, students will be able to review the answers through Astro Tutor TV.
Astro Content Strategy, International Business and GenNext Vice President Putri Yasmin said that this initiative allowed students to use their social media space more productively, especially during the MCO.
“The interactive element that comes with the combination of using
linear learning on television and online learning through social media is in line with KPM’s study which found that nearly 80% of high school students and 36% of primary school students own smartphones," she said.
Putri Yasmin added that the short 15-minute segments were created as the attention span of students were different when studying from home.
“15 minutes for 3 segments is sufficient for a quick and compact learning session. Coupled with the wide range of educational content available on our Tutor TV channels as well as on the Astro GO app and on demand streaming, Astro believes that ‘Kuiz Pantas TTV’ can further enhance students' performance and help them score well in their exams," she said.
Why not learn to code?
Another exciting addition would be the introduction of Coding di Rumah’, an initiative of the Astro Digital Education division to highlight the importance of learning the basics of coding in everyday life.
From 9 to 30 April 2020, kids will have the opportunity to create their own 2D game at home using the free platform, Scratch.
Kids can also access tutorials and view various examples of 2D games through Astro's official coding website, decoded.astroceria.com.my.
“Coding can boost children’s creativity levels and give them a new perspective to problem-solving. Coding can also be seen as a stepping stone for a wide array of opportunities, as demand for jobs related to coding and digital education remains strong and will surely increase
in the future," said Putri Yasmin.
