13yo Student in Melaka Chased Schoolmates With Box Cutter After Allegedly Enduring Repeated Bullying

Just days after a stabbing incident at a school in Banting, which left one student injured, another similar case reportedly took place at a school in Melaka.

According to a report by NST, a Form One student allegedly chased his schoolmates with a box cutter during a student attendance appreciation programme held at the school's open hall.

The incident, which took place at about 2:50 PM, is believed to have been prompted by anger after two male students, aged 13 and 14, allegedly bullied the suspect repeatedly by throwing ice at him.

It is understood that the suspect took a box cutter out of his pencil case and proceeded to chase one of the boys for about 50 metres towards the school's surau.

According to District Police Chief Superintendent Ahmad Abu Bakar, the incident was captured on the school's CCTV cameras. Two other students who were with the boys also fled, fearing they would be targeted.

Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident

Ahmad added that the incident had caught the attention of a teacher, who managed to calm the student. The teacher also managed to persuade him to hand over the box cutter.

Police investigations revealed that all the students involved had disciplinary records dating back to the start of the current school term.

It is reported that the suspect is receiving treatment at the Psychiatry and Mental Health Department of Melaka Hospital, with his most recent appointment recorded on 3 June. The school was aware of his condition.

The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
