1. 60 year old grandfather becomes the first Sarawakian to ascend Mount Everest

In May, Wong Su Chung made headlines after he became the first Sarawakian to climb Mount Everest, the world's highest peak. According to The Borneo Post, Wong took three years to prepare for his climb.
“Reaching the top is one thing but coming down safely when the body is weary is another big challenge since that is when the danger lurks,” he said.
It is reported that Wong took 45 days from Kathmandu to ascend Everest and back.

2. Boy saves rabbits from house fire in Kajang Utama

In a one-minute TikTok video posted in September, a boy was hailed as a hero after he selflessly saved two rabbits in a house fire.
Reportedly, it took the boy about 20 minutes to rescue the rabbits who had been returned safely to their owner.

3. Friendly barber helps autistic boy overcome his fear of haircuts

An Indian barber known as Mr D received praise after a customer shared a video showing how he treated her autistic son with compassion during a haircut session.
In the TikTok video, the mother said even though her autistic son accidentally hit and pulled Mr D's beard, the barber never got angry and said he understood that her son was just stressed. The mother also shared that Mr D has an autistic sibling, which may explain his understanding.

4. Teacher from Kedah sets up makeshift bowling alley for his students

A teacher of SK Nami, Kedah went above and beyond for his students by setting up makeshift bowling alleys using his own funds.
The teacher's effort, Wan Roslan Wan Ishak's, gained the attention of Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh in April, who pledged RM20,000 to help him build more bowling alleys.
Since the donation, Wan Roslan built five additional lanes with five rails acting as gutters. He'd also purchased some equipment like five trolleys, nine bowling balls and three bowling ball bags.

5. Teacher in rural Sarawak had a creative way to motivate students to attend school

Muhamad Tarmizi Awang, a teacher at a primary school in Daro, Mukah, had turned his classroom into a cafe to boost student's attendance. Muhamad Tarmizi, who is from Kelantan, said he was inspired by his students' curiosity about cafes for the project, which he has dubbed ‘The Cafe Class’.
Additionally, he had also initiated a cabbage gardening project to teach the students about responsibility.

6. Chinese community in Perak fixes road to ease the journey of drivers coming home during Raya

During the Raya festivities, a man shared how a group of Chinese men had helped him and other drivers as they were returning home from their hometown.
The man said another driver had initially advised him to turn around as the backroad was inaccessible. It was then that a group of Chinese men appeared and told them to wait for a while as they brought a backhoe to fix the road.

7. The petrol station worker who always orders two meals; one for himself & the other for the delivery riders

In a TikTok video, a delivery rider jokingly dubbed a petrol station worker as ‘the most stubborn Grab customer’ after he always buys extra food for any delivery driver.
The owner of the video named Nafie, said he's touched by his kind gesture.

8. Kind aunty feeds stranger after seeing him struggle to eat in a hospital ward

In June, an Indian aunty went viral for her act of kindness in feeding a patient at a hospital in Johor Bahru.
In a video posted on TikTok, the aunty was seen sitting on a man's hospital bed and gently spoon-feeding him. Touched by the act of kindness, the man could be seen wiping his teary eyes with a tissue.
“The nurses offered to help feed him, but he refused and motioned that he was okay. My aunt saw he was struggling and insisted on helping him, saying he wouldn't be able to take his medication or sleep well on an empty stomach,” said the aunty's niece.
