Body of Missing M’sian Teen Allegedly Dumped by Her BF With His Family’s Help

The 15-year-old teen was reported missing on 9th December after she failed to return home after she had gone to a lion dance practice at Batu 11, Cheras.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the body was identified through a DNA analysis that matched the body to Yap's mother.

Following the discovery, three suspects, including Yap's 16-year-old boyfriend was remanded for seven days until 5th January.

The other two men arrested are believed to be the boyfriend's elder brother, 20, and father, 51.

Boyfriend allegedly confessed to dumping Yap's body

While the case is still under investigation, China Press and Sin Chew Daily cited anonymous sources which alleged that the boyfriend had confessed to dumping Yap's body in the river.

According to the reports, the boyfriend claimed he and Yap had drunk beverages laced with drugs. However, Yap reportedly overdosed.

The boyfriend further claimed to have panicked. With his family's help, they dumped Yap’s body in a secluded area of Sungai Changgang, which was said to be infested with crocodiles.

Meanwhile, the police said that they expect to extend the remand of the three suspects in an effort to determine the motive behind the murder case.

Yap Xin Yuan's father had claimed the teen's body for final rites

This morning, the father of the deceased teenager, Yap Eng You, arrived at Hospital Banting to claim his daughter's body.

In an interview, the father said it was hard for the family to accept the teen's passing. He'd also voiced his disappointment upon seeing her daughter's unrecognisable face.

“I'm here to bring her home and to accompany her for her last ride. Now, all we can do is just helplessly accept this harsh reality,” said Eng You.

Yap's body is reportedly taken to a crematorium in Cheras for cremation.
