A mamak restaurant has recently gone viral after a customer shared a photo of the food wrapping used by the eatery.
In a post on Threads, the restaurant, located in Kota Warisan, Sepang, was shown to have used food wrapping printed with the words ‘Allah’, ‘Muhammad’ and ‘Masya-Allah’.
It is understood that the original poster had filed an official report with the authorities regarding the issue.
The post subsequently garnered attention from other Malaysian Muslims, many of whom condemned the restaurant, stating that the words should not be misused, especially on items that are typically discarded.
“If the restaurant owner is really a Muslim, how come he didn’t know this is wrong? Plus, if any of the workers are Muslims, how come not one of them realised this?”

The restaurant has issued an apology
In an update, the restaurant’s management has since come forward to publicly apologise after the issue went viral.
Sinar Harian reported that the branch manager, Abdul Razak Abu Bakar, said the restaurant would take full responsibility by replacing the food wrappings with new ones.
“On behalf of the three restaurant branches, I sincerely apologise. We have since replaced the packaging with new ones at all branches. We admit our wrongdoing and will ensure that the same issue does not arise again,” he said.
Additionally, Abdul Razak assured the public that the restaurant would not dispose of the food wrappings bearing the words ‘Allah’, ‘Muhammad’ and ‘Masya-Allah’. Instead, they will be stored appropriately in a storage room.
