Most of us just can't wait to get our COVID-19 vaccine shots and just move a step closer towards herd immunity.

The whole process may be slowed down a little during Ramadan though.

According to a report by Malay Mail, Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali said that administering vaccine shots at night would not be done during puasa month.

“I believe that if the shots are administered at night, people will not come because they want to perform tarawih prayers, performed only during Ramadan each year," he explained.

He added that the vaccine shots would only be administered until evening.

Second phase to begin soon

Dr Noor Azmi also said that the second phase woudl begin starting 19 April.

As for the single CanSico vaccine shot, medical officers would be getting in touch with those living in rural areas.

“For those living in the interior areas such as the Orang Asli, we will send medical officers through the outreach programme to administer the single CanSino vaccine shot,” he said.

He added that if people showed up for their appointments accordingly, medical officials would be able to complete 70 to 80 per cent of vaccine shots by year-end.

While we're happy at the progress, limiting the time frame to give out vaccine shots during Ramadan does sound like it is slowing down the whole process though.
