  • The driver openly defended his actions on social media, insisting he did nothing wrong and would continue despite public backlash.
  • The Johor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry has launched an investigation after reviewing the petrol station's CCTV footage.

Once again, a foreign-registered car has been caught illegally pumping subsidised RON95 petrol.

However, instead of keeping quiet about it, the driver decided to “defend” his actions online.

The incident is said to have taken place at a petrol station in Eco Botanic, Iskandar Puteri, Johor. In a Facebook post, a man can be seen fuelling his multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) with RON95 petrol.

Unsurprisingly, the post garnered the attention of Malaysians who were sick and tired of seeing the same act repeated time and again.

Some even called on the government to impose a rule banning foreign-registered vehicles caught illegally pumping subsidised fuel.

Decided to snap back

While some people choose to keep a low profile after being caught doing something illegal, the driver involved decided to snap back.

In a comment that has since been deleted, the driver wrote:

“Hello, I’m the owner of the car. That’s me, so what’s the problem? I pump legally, what. No say illegal to buy. I will continue until April — continue posting about me. I don’t care.”

As if that were not enough, the driver also insisted that he had done nothing wrong.

When a social media user suggested that the police would be informed if the incident were to recur, the driver replied:

“That’s my own problem. Are you unhappy with it?”

Meanwhile, Johor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo said the ministry have launched an investigation into the matter.

"A check of the station's closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage was carried out immediately upon receiving information on the viral images."
