The story of Abang Tingkap

While many people joked that Abang Tingkap is probably an introvert, the real reason behind this business is totally different.

According to his TikTok page, Abang Tingkap shares that he worked as a cook at a local restaurant. However, due to an injury, he was unable to work and has since been on unpaid sick leave. He wrote that he started the Abang Tingkap business to support himself financially.

“After months of not working and my savings had started to dwindle, I decided to sell fried rice to pay for my daily expenses and medical costs.”

According to Abang Tingkap, he had previously asked for help, but it had fallen on deaf ears.

Addressing the netizens’ comments on why he'd only sold three items on the menu for RM5, Abang Tingkap said he was just grateful to be able to support himself. He also stated that once he's fully healed, he will return to his old job.
