We all know that some of your favourite apps such as Twitter, YouTube and even Google Chrome have dark modes that we all just love.

One app that is a bit lagging behind when it comes to this feature is Facebook...or so we thought.

According to a report by AFP-Relaxnews, a software engineer by the name of Jane Manchun Wong recently discovered that the dark mode has always been there on Facebook, buried in the mobile app's code.

Wong reportedly discovered that the the code for an unreleased Dark Mode was found in the Android version of the Facebook mobile app.

So, if the code is already there, why is it not released yet?

Wong believes that the reason for that is because the mode is not entirely ready yet.

“For now, only certain parts of the app have been reworked to support the Dark Mode,” she was quoted by the news agency as saying.

She also added that it could take time for the Dark Mode to become publicly available due to its size.

We guess we have to wait a little bit longer for Facebook's Dark Mode then. Sigh.
