An apartment complex in Kajang went viral on social media after a video showing one of its residential units on the eighth floor catching fire began circulating online, with sparks seen spewing from the unit.
In a report by FMT, a total of 13 personnel and officers, along with machinery from the Bangi and Semenyih fire stations, were rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 10:42 pm on Sunday (8 February).
It is understood that the residential unit involved was storing a large stash of firecrackers in one of its rooms. The room caught fire and was 80% destroyed.
The fire was successfully brought under control at 11:19 pm. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported.
In the video shared online, the residential unit could be seen engulfed in flames, while fireworks were shooting out from the balcony.
One witness, Afifah, 33, said her husband, who works in Melaka, was the one who informed her about the fire. At the time of the incident, Afifah and her children were preparing to go to sleep.

In a report by Kosmo!, Afifah, who lives in Block B of the same apartment complex, said that several residents worked together to try to extinguish the flames before firefighters arrived at the scene.
She also said that the occupants of the affected unit were not at home at the time of the incident.
