Ramadan bazaars have been given the green light to operate but if a COVID-19 infection stems from it, it will be shut down.

This was the warning issued by Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa recently.



“It is mandatory to comply with the SOP imposed especially in terms of the number of visitors, but apparently, it was not complied, to the point that the physical distancing exercise was not keeping with what we want.

“I wish to remind all the organisers of the 66 Ramadan bazaars in the Federal Territories to be responsible so that the Ramadan bazaars in their areas fully comply with the SOP," he said as reported by The Star.

Suggesting that bazaars were not following SOPs strictly, the minister added that improved measures must be done including having a single entry and exit at the Ramadan bazaars.

“We want to allow the bazaars to open until the end of Ramadan but bazaars will be shut down if a COVID-19 outbreak takes place due to SOP not being complied with,’’ he said.



So, the ball seems to be in the court of the bazaar traders.

If you want to stay in business, make sure SOPs are complied with.

One irresponsible move, and everyone involved could end up suffering the consequences.
