This Incredibly Rusty Gym in Pudu Looks Like a Car Workshop but Only Costs RM7 Per Entry
Malaysia is home to numerous gym chains, such as Anytime Fitness, Celebrity Fitness, and Fitness First. As a gym junkie, TikTok user KJ Ong is on a mission to try out different 100 different gyms in Malaysia and gym no.35 for him is a gym that has captured netizens' attention for appearing like it was built in WWII.
KJ called it a “raw gym”, and by raw, he meant that all the equipment was incredibly rusty and the parts with foam were mostly worn through. However, he said that if you are a ‘gym kaki’, you must come to challenge this gym.”

The gym appeared to be on the second floor of a shop lot and, alarmingly, had a floor-to-ceiling window with no glass. As it was raining, the rain even beat into the gym and wet the floor. Talk about raw!
Some of the equipment also seemed to be missing foam grips, so you’d be gripping just plain old iron if you wanted to lift weights. The floors and walls also looked like they were streaked with dirt. KJ tried out the equipment, and although it seemed to work well, it also looked extremely unsanitary. However, he said the music was super nice.

The foam on the leg curl machines was also so worn out it looked like ‘dry chilli’. The bench press area also had multiple rusty weights, but KJ said it “feels a bit dangerous.” All the equipment looked like it had been used beyond its lifespan and was more than ready to be taken to the landfill.

KJ said that those who went to the gym were serious gym junkies and gave his nod of approval. Another gym bench was so worn out that he said it looked like Spongebob due to the gaping holes and the visible parts of foam.
According to his description, KJ said, “Gold gym is the most out-of-place gym we have ever been to. It feels like going to a foreign country. There are all kinds of international people. Working out here is not about you or me, and everyone supports each other.” However, he added that “the equipment is very old, but it is too old”.
Hilarious comments poured in from other TikTok users like “Is this a government gym?”, “Is this a car scrap shop?” “Is this gym from Ip Man’s era?” and “(This is a) Paleolithic era gym.” Well, none of us can afford fancy gyms, so whatever works, we guess!
