Malaysians were furious over the incident as it has not only claimed the life of the father of three children but to make things worse, the female driver was high, did not have a valid driving license, used an expired road tax and insurance.
Malaysian may have ‘sentenced’ her in the court of netizens on the internet, but today, she has finally been brought to the Magistrate’s Court in Johor Baru.
According to the Malay Mail, the MyVi driver Nur Fatin Nazrah Suhaimi has been sentenced to six years in prison and to pay a fine of RM8,000 after pleading guilty.
Magistrate Suhaila Shafi'uddin also ordered her to pay RM3,300 for three other offences, namely not having a valid driving licence and driving a vehicle without road tax and insurance.
She has been disqualified from holding and renewing her driving licence for five years.
Nur Fatin was tested positive for methamphetamine following the accident which killed Royal Navy personnel Mohd Rizal Buseri, 31, who was waiting at a traffic light intersection in a Honda Accord at Taman Pelangi.
The accident also involved a 78-year-old in a Proton Iswara who suffered minor injuries.
Johor police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay added that the 23-year-old also had committed several offences in the past.
