Usually law enforcers would issue summons or fines to the rakyat for breaking the law.

But this time, the tables have turned… sort of.

Recently, the Kedah Police department issued summons to other policemen for various offences.

According to Harian Metro, several Kedah policemen were surprised when their vehicles were stopped for a spot check at the entrance gate of the contingent police headquarters (IPK) in Alor Setar.

Several personnel were issued summons after they were found to have broken the law, such as using fancy plate numbers.

Photos of the incident were also shared on the Kedah Police official Facebook page.

The post has close to 8,000 likes, 2,000 comments, and over 1,300 shares to date with netizens applauding them for not practising double standards.

The operation was conducted by the state Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, Integrity and Standard Compliance Department, and Special Branch.

Besides vehicle checks, unsuspecting staff members also had their confidential documents and security passes reviewed.

Kedah police chief Datuk Hasanudin Hassan told Harian Metro that the inspection was meant to ensure that officers and civil servants at the IPK followed rules and regulations.

We hope the authorities would conduct more ‘surprise’ spot checks on other policemen in the future.
