One of the most devastating wildfires in the history of the world is currently happening in Australia.

The wildfire has sadly killed almost half a billion animals. You can read all about it here.

Millions of people across the globe are heartbroken by the plight of Australians and its animals.

Some have started fundraising movements to help elevate their burden while others went the extra mile – just take a look at the Irwin family.

The Irwin family to the rescue

The late Steve Irwin’s family has helped rescue over 90,000 animals from the raging bushfire and cared for them in their own animal hospital at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital.

Steve’s son, Robert, recently shared the news via his Instagram account.

“This is patient number 90,000 that the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital has treated,” the caption wrote.

“‘Ollie’ the orphaned platypus is receiving round the clock care until he can be released back to the wild.”

Robert’s sister, Bindi, has also shared a few photos of the rescued animals from time to time.

She also revealed that the Australia Zoo, which is owned and operated by the Irwin family, is safe from any wildfires at the moment.

However, it has been a really busy period for them.

“Our Wildlife Hospital is busier than ever though, having officially treated over 90,000 patients.”

“My parents dedicated our Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital to my beautiful grandmother. We will continue to honour her by being Wildlife Warriors and saving as many lives as we can.”

Not all heroes wear capes and we’re sure Australians are very grateful for the Irwin family. Steve is probably looking down on them feeling proud of their efforts.

Let’s all pray and do what we can (read: donate and help create awareness) to help our friends Down Under throughout this testing period.
