In the pursuit of internet fame, many people are doing things for clout such as this influencer who paid a woman RM100 to act like she’d received a free Macbook.

Recently, a man took things to the next level by uploading a video of himself after he apparently set fire to an auxiliary police car.

The five-second video showed the man grinning in front of a burning white vehicle and flashing the peace sign while wearing a helmet.

The video had the words ‘done bakar kete polis puas hati aku’ or ‘just set fire to a police car, I’m satisfied’ on it. His post included the hashtag #polistakdekeje or #policehavenowork.

As reported by The Star, the 26 year old man, who has since been arrested, said he did it for higher ratings on TikTok.

The incident occurred at the Mutiara Damansara MRT station in the early hours of the morning on 15 February.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said this was the motive behind the suspect’s actions.

"The suspect tested positive for morphine, and our investigations revealed that the suspect has worked as a delivery rider for three years," Mohd Fakrudin said.

According to Harian Metro, Mohd Fakrudin added, “The suspect is believed to have used a petrol bomb and thrown it towards the vehicle before it caught fire.

The motive of the incident is still under investigation, and it is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for treasonous acts.”

The police have also seized a bottle believed to contain petrol which was used to set fire to the car.

X user @rahmi_jono also posted a video of the car after it was burnt to a crisp.

It was parked in front of a bus stop wall which was vandalised with expletives such as ‘f*** polis’ and ‘f*** gomen’ or the government, which had also been done by the suspect.
