A Malaysian man was fined by the Batu Pahat Magistrate’s Court after he pleaded guilty to threatening to harm his older sister with a machete.
According to a report by Harian Metro, the incident involved the suspect, identified as Zainul Ariffin Mohd Jaid, 32, who became angry with the victim for not waking him up from his sleep.
The accused was charged with intentionally causing criminal intimidation by pointing a machete at his 44-year-old biological sister at a house in Sri Merlong, Rengit, on 1 March 2026.

He was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries a prison term of up to seven years, a fine, or both. The court ultimately imposed a fine of RM2,500.
According to the case facts, the victim found the house in a mess, and the accused appeared visibly angry. She reprimanded him for his behaviour, including damaging items in the house.
It is understood that the accused was upset because the victim did not wake him up, as he was supposed to send their mother to the hospital that day for diabetes treatment.
However, the sister defended herself, saying she had attempted multiple times to wake him but he did not respond.
The confrontation escalated when the accused grabbed a parang and threatened his sister, saying, “You don’t make me lose control. Once I lose control, I can do anything.”
