As of 3 May, a total of 24,081 Malaysians have been caught by the police for flouting the Movement Control Order (MCO).
While some possibly did it with intention (*cough cough* politicians, *cough cough* politician's family members), some were caught due to ignorance, circumstance or perhaps due to a lack of information.
Whatever the reason, the prisons department has clarified that the offenders will not be registered as convicts.

Prisons director-general Datuk Seri Zulkifli Omar said that some of the offenders were youths and registering them as convicts would only ruin their future.
“When it is entered into (prison) records, it will be difficult for them to find jobs (after their release). On that basis, they will not be recorded as convicts,” he said according to a report by Bernama.
He said that currently, a total of 11 temporary prisons were set up throughout the country.
