Who would have thought that a hobby like collecting trading cards could turn someone into a millionaire?

Well, that’s exactly what happened to a Malaysian man from Selangor, who managed to bag a hefty sum for his massive Pokémon card collection.

In a Facebook post, the man's collection was shown stacked all the way to the ceiling. It’s understood that the collection included highly sought-after and limited-edition cards, which hold significant value in the global trading scene.

Initially, the collector reportedly offered two payment options to interested buyers: RM1.8 million in cash, or a Porsche Carrera S plus RM1 million.

According to the collector, the buyer was also a fellow Malaysian, not an international collector, as some had speculated.

“My Pokémon card collection officially sold for RM1,870,000! From a small room in Shah Alam to making history in the Pokémon world. This is more than a sale – this is a story of passion, grind, and legacy,” he wrote.

When asked how much he had spent to build the massive collection, the collector revealed he had invested around USD420,000 to USD430,000 (roughly RM1.77 million) over the years.

Needless to say, many social media users were astounded, with many saying it was rare to witness such a huge transaction in the hobby scene.

Some even jokingly dubbed the collector “The King of Scalpers,” referencing his ability to secure and resell cards for a large profit.
