Yesterday, Malaysians were shaken to the core by the news that a 14-year-old student fatally stabbed a 16-year-old girl at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bandar Utama 4.
According to Sin Chew Daily, a preliminary examination revealed that the victim sustained approximately 50 stab wounds across her body, inflicted with two different knives.

The incident reportedly took place in a female bathroom. Witnesses claimed the suspect was seen wandering around the school with blood-stained clothes, still carrying the weapon. He was eventually stopped and calmed down with the help of others, including his brother, who coincidentally studies at the same school.
The suspect’s brother revealed that the 14-year-old, the youngest of three siblings, had long harboured romantic feelings for the victim and kept numerous photos of her on his phone. He had reportedly confessed his love to her but was rejected. He was also said to be under academic pressure.
Suspect’s father expresses regret
The suspect’s father, who declined to be identified, expressed deep remorse over the tragedy. In an interview with China Press, he said he never imagined his son could commit such an act.
“He’s very quiet and introverted. He never tells me what happens at school, or whether he was being bullied. Although his grades weren’t very good and he might not have been paying attention in class, he usually wouldn’t cause problems."
"I know that no apology can atone for what has happened. Whatever I say now is meaningless. Nothing I do will bring back their daughter. I don’t know how to face them,” he said.
