M'sian Woman Attacked With Machete After Turning Up TV Volume, Husband Arrested

A local elderly man was arrested by police after allegedly attacking his wife with a machete following an argument over the television volume.

According to reports, the incident occurred at around 9:30 PM on Saturday (5 September) at a home in Taman Desa Sejahtera, Kota Tinggi.

Kota Tinggi District Police Chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said police received information from members of the public after the victim, a woman in her 70s, was found bleeding inside her house.

Police later arrested the suspect, who is also the victim's husband. It is understood that the man, who is in his 70s, was intoxicated at the time of the incident.

"Initial investigations revealed that the incident occurred due to a misunderstanding. The victim had turned up the television volume, causing the suspect, who was intoxicated, to attack her with a machete."

The victim suffered a slash wound measuring approximately one centimetre on her right hand. She was reported to be in stable condition and was taken to Kota Tinggi Hospital (HKT) for treatment.

Police have also seized the machete believed to have been used in the assault.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt using a dangerous weapon or means.
