Police have detained 44 motorcyclists, including a 14-year-old teenager, during a special operation on Jalan Kampung Gong Kekabu–Jalan Taman Safiah Murni, Bukit Payong.

Marang District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Sofian Mohd Redzuan, said patrols and monitoring found that the group of motorcyclists had gathered and engaged in activities that disturbed public peace by making noise in the area.

“All individuals involved in the activity were arrested and inspected. During the inspection, police also detained two foreign men believed to be Rohingya nationals who were riding motorcycles separately without licenses."

“Both were taken to Bukit Payong Police Station before further action was taken under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.

Those detained during the special operation at Jalan Kampung Gong Kekabu–Jalan Taman Safiah Murni, Bukit Payong, Marang were brought to the police station.

Riders asked to pray before release

Mohd Sofian said a total of 19 male teenagers aged 14 to 17 and 25 individuals aged 18 to 41 were inspected, while 38 motorcycles were seized under the same act.

“All individuals detained were brought to the police station and instructed to perform the Sunnah repentance prayer and Subuh prayer in congregation before being released."

The operation, which began at 12:30 AM, was carried out by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) of the Marang District Police Headquarters with a strength of 24 officers and personnel.

At the same time, he advised parents to be more vigilant about their children’s movements and activities, especially involving motorcycle use.

“Do not allow children to ride motorcycles on the road without a license. It not only violates the law but also endangers lives."

“Road users are also advised to obey traffic rules and remain cautious while driving,” he added.
