Pregnant Woman Complains About Lack of Courtesy Amongst M’sians While Queuing, Netizens Disagree
Recently, X user @Cikgu_Anep shared a video about a woman who complained that she was not allowed to jump the queue even though she was pregnant and unhappy about the treatment she received. The post has gone viral, with 1.1 million views as of the time of writing.
In the video, the woman shows the long queue at a lok lok stall, where she is standing behind many people. The text in the video reads, “POV (Point of View): You as a pregnant woman in Malaysia. No courtesy at all.” She adds that the people there also show her no sympathy, saying that she would have been allowed to skip the queue or been given a chair to sit on if it happened overseas. “I love Malaysiaku,” she sarcastically says.
Cikgu Anep, who posted the video (from an unknown source), said that he was unsure how to comment as the situation required explanations such as:
- Where was her husband?
- Why would you go to a place with so many people that you must queue?
- Not everyone knows the difference between a pregnant woman and a plus-sized lady.
He said that these were some of the questions he had and asked X users what they thought. Most netizens seemed to disagree with the woman calling out Malaysians for lacking courtesy:
One user commented, "As a person with knee injuries, I don’t complain on social media when people don’t prepare a chair for me when I need to queue. I bring my own chair, which is the end of the story. If you are not capable, you should prepare properly beforehand. Most of the time, you won’t be able to eat at a place with long queues because the pain is unbearable, so there are other options."

"Also, what courtesy? The people in front of her are also standing. Does she expect people to sit down and wait for their family members to give her a chair? Does she expect the waiters who are busy attending to customers? If you ask, you will get one (a chair). I can’t stand people who expect others to be mind-readers. She used such words (no courtesy) so carelessly," said one user.
Meanwhile, another netizen commented, "Don't complain on social media if you want to go to such places. If you have a mouth, just ask for a chair. I queued up to eat at Sukiya when I was pregnant and asked for a chair. They did provide chairs for pregnant ladies."
What do you think of this issue? By the way, note that this issue is separate from taking up seats designated for pregnant women on public transport!
