Have you ever heard the phrase ‘earning an honest penny’? It means earning money honourably and legitimately, even though it may require hard work. Unfortunately, five medical workers in the Sabah field tried to earn money easily by allegedly claiming false overtime work (OT), totalling RM146,000, and their actions caught up with them.
As reported by NST, four nurses and an assistant medical officer employed at a local health centre have been arrested by the Sabah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). The unfortunate five were detained when they arrived at the Sabah MACC office at around 9:40 am on September 10.
According to preliminary investigations, the four women and a man in their 30s are believed to have submitted false claims for overtime work between 2020 and 2021. However, the suspects allegedly did not perform any overtime work.

He added that all the suspects have been released on MACC bail and are expected to be charged at the Sessions Court at Kota Kinabalu on 12 September (Thursday).
If you are ever tempted to submit false OT claims, think twice!
