According to a report by Reuters, a government document revealed that the Sri Lankan cabinet had agreed to scrap tourist visas for said countries, which can cost between RM83 to RM165.
An official at the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Ministry told the news agency that the offer will remain for six months and the government will assess the loss of revenue from visas after that period of time.
Tourism Development Minister John Amaratunga confirmed the matter to Reuters, adding that the move is expected to boost visitor arrivals.
Reuters reported that foreign visitor arrivals in May fell 70.8 percent, the lowest since the end of Sri Lanka's civil war a decade ago.
