Boys and girls, if you have a strong passion in gaming or eSports, don’t give up and keep on playing! The e-gaming industry is currently booming and will continue to thrive in the future.
Not only is it a highly sought-after industry, it’s also a very lucrative one.
If you play Dota2, you must be familiar with team Mineski where two of its members are our very own local boys – Mushi and Moon.
According to the New Straits Times, Mushi has previously earned RM3.5mil for playing in several Dota2 tournaments.
It's all about the money, money, money! So, many of you might be thinking what is our government doing to boost the eSports industry in Malaysia?
Well, according to our Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq, he vows to transform Malaysia into an eSports hub not only in Asean but Asia as a whole.
In an interview with My Game On, the Johorean said that he’s “aiming to tap into the billion-dollar industry and expand its growth in Malaysia to help with the country's youth development”.
We hope to see it happening soon, Syed Saddiq! “I will try my best to bring whatever facilities, investments and development there is so that eSports gamers and players will have a place.”
The Muar MP is looking into alternatives to facilitate an environment for gamers to grow, which includes professional training and facilities, and to also help change the negative perception of gaming as a career.
So, e-gamers, are you guys excited that Malaysia will potentially be the biggest eSports hub in Asia in the future? Hey, who knows? We might even host a Dota2 tournament!
