Remember when we used to tease our skinny friend, saying that they are so light, they will be blown away by the wind?

Well, a toddler didn't find it funny when she was nearly blown away by the wind.

Terrifying ordeal

Several videos showing a three-year-old girl being lifted into the air by a giant kite have gone viral on social media.

According to Channel News Asia, the incident happed during a kite festival held in seaside town of Nanliao.

The girl was reportedly walking past some of the kites when she got entangled in a giant, long-tailed orange kite.

A gust of wind lifted the kite high into the air, and the poor girl was left hanging on for dear life as she got carried along with it several metres into the air.

The videos show the girl being twisted several times in the air above a crowd of screaming adults.

Her terrifying ordeal lasted for about half a minute, before a passerby managed to pull her down.


Thankfully, the report said the terrified girl did not suffer any major injuries from the ordeal, just some minor scratches on her face.

"The city government expresses its deepest apologies to the girl and the public," Hsinchu mayor Lin Chih-chien posted on Facebook.

After the harrowing incident, authorities in Hsinchu have decided to call off the event.

We guess the poor girl will not be going anywhere near a kite anytime soon.
