It’s general knowledge that Singapore is a country even though it is small.
However, popular news outlet CNN seems not to think so.
Malay Mail reported that CNN recently erroneously claimed that Singapore was “not a country” in a COVID-19 data chart.
The article that criticised the way US President Donald Trump handled the pandemic, featured a list of key countries that reported less COVID-19 cases than the White House in the past 24 hours on Oct 7.
A huge mistake
That list stated that Singapore was “not a country”.
When the news was pointed out by alert social media users, CNN removed the list from their website and acknowledged the error in a note at the bottom of the article.
Not sure which I find more amusing, that there's a list of countries with fewer cases of Coronavirus than the White House, or that someone at CNN thinks Singapore is "Not a country." pic.twitter.com/R09ajtyQfw

Just checked the @CNN article and it still shows "Singapore (*not a country*)". CNN, are you living in 1964? So embarrassing https://t.co/Au6DD40WuL
