You’ve probably shed a few tears already hearing that Ramadan Bazaars won’t be allowed during the Restricted Movement Order (RMO). We’re all gutted but a silver lining is that most of us won’t have to shed a few kilos from our guts due to overeating.

Fret not though, Grab Malaysia has got your back and your appetite as they’ve partnered up with the governments of Selangor and Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur to bring the e-Ramadan Bazaar to your doorstep via GrabFood.

Working with state councils, you’ll now be able to order your favorite bazaar delicacies from the comfort and safety of your own home and the abang GrabFood will deliver it to you. The move will be a huge boon for micro-entrepreneurs and social sellers that depends on the physical marketplace for business.

“Each year, micro-entrepreneurs and social sellers look forward to the season as their busiest period. They participate in their neighbourhood Ramadan Bazaar and organise pop-up stores across our cities but without a physical presence this year, they may not yield the same sales as before. Therefore, we want to support them to go cashless and expand their reach to millions of Grab users and use our ecosystem with services like GrabPay, GrabFood and GrabExpress to help them continue to thrive and deliver their goods directly to Malaysian homes,” said Sean Goh, Country Head of Grab Malaysia.

Grab’s been looking out for the little guys lately with a stand to support small, independent restaurants and hawkers by boosting their visibility and demand with the ‘Local Heroes’ campaign, as they are least likely able to weather the current economic storm. As a mobile tech platform, Grab’s always encouraged businesses to embrace the digital economy to grow.

Selangor and Kuala Lumpur are pioneers of the innovation but Grab will be actively engaging other state councils on the possibility of digitising their local Ramadan Bazaar merchants as well.

Furthermore, Grab has collaborated with its wide selection of restaurant partners to curate menus with timeless Ramadan delicacies like ayam percik, murtabak and roti john to be available on GrabFood during the fasting month.

Grab welcomes social-sellers and micro-entrepreneurs to maximise their reach via its network of partners. Businesses who are keen to tap into Grab’s resources can reach out to the company via grb.to/GrabRamadan. Local councils keen to explore digitising their local bazaars can do the same.

Beginning today, Malaysians can also enjoy up to 30 per cent off when they shop and pay online with GrabPay for their festive needs through the 'Raya Deals Dari Rumah' promo.
