Meet Your Maker Quicker With The Lambo Huracan RWD

Well, Lamborghini must have turned to that ethos in whipping up the Lamborghini Huracan Evo RWD (rear-wheel drive). Yes, that’s the car’s official name and the rather intriguing naming nomenclature shows that they didn’t waste money on marketing fluff and spent it all on engineering, because really a five-year old could have scribbled a better name.

Moving on, the name does get the point across that this is the rear-driven version of the Huracan Evo. Lamborghini has always been the anti-Ferrari with their machines and mannerisms. While Ferrari comes across as the hoity-toity rich kid with perfectly ironed clothes, you always get the feeling the Lambo was a little rougher around the edges and we loved them for it. Think the opening scene in Tokyo Drift. The Lambo would be the protagonist.

It loses out on 30hp over the safer and boring Huracan Evo though. So, the final number is 610hp and 560Nm of torque from the howling 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10. Of course, the Huracan Evo RWD is also lighter with some massive amounts of pasta cut from its diet. Binning the front diff and driveshafts saves it 33kg. All that reduction in power and driven wheels also translates into a lower price.

With that seven-speed dual-clutch running the rear, it'll zip to 100kph in “only” 3.3-seconds and top out at 325kph. We’re utterly devastated at how slow it turned out. Take consolation though in the new traction control that can help you slide.

With the regular Huracan Evo came a new system and it’s dubbed the Performance Traction Control System (P-TCS) in the RWD with powersliding in mind.

The system allows a littler power to still reach the rear even in oversteer to keep the rear sliding and tyre smoke churning. You can select differing levels of intervention from the electronics with the Anima controller.

With the introduction of the new variant, there’s also a new shade of yellow. Giallo Belenus Yellow is the hue you see on the promo material for the rear-drive bull here.
