The Lexus LC 500 is arguably one of the sharpest-looking cars that money can buy. While our pupils are still healing from looking at the supercar when it was launched in 2017, Lexus Malaysia is preparing to launch the updated model soon. In the meantime, you can head down to any of their showrooms to reserve one for yourself.
The Japanese supercar has all the dramatic lines and angles that seem to have made the leap directly from concept paper to road. It looks just as keen today as it did years ago, so it’s only logical that the LC 500 retains its razor-edge. All the enhancements happen underneath its skin.
To start, Lexus reduced the unsprung weight by 10kg from the 21-inch wheels, the forged aluminium front lower arms and other related bits to hone its handling on uneven roads. At the back, the LC 500 gets padded with a new performance damper and Adaptive Variable Suspension control system.
Besides, the Active Cornering Assist now finds the Variable Gear Ratio Steering as its lab partner. You can also expect crisper steering from the LC 500. The engineers have rejigged Dynamic Rear Steering and Electric Power Steering to make the car steer with more precision and feel.
Inside, the LC 500’s old screen is swapped with a new 10.3-inch Electro Multi Vision screen that displays 24:9 HD videos and images. The driver’s seating has also been upgraded to include Power Easy Access that slides the seats and steering column away to make getting out much more accessible, especially those with ample girth.
The Lexus Safety System + (LSS+) gets reinforced with new features. You’ll now find Front Pre-Collision System, Automatic High Beam, Lane Keeping System and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and eight airbags. The LC 500’s transmission automatically goes to Park whenever the doors are open.
No changes to the drivetrain, the LC 500 remains armed with a 470hp/540Nm 5.0-litre V8 mated to a 10-speed automatic. It’ll smash the 0-100kph time in 4.4 seconds.
The LC 500 comes in new exterior colours called Blazing Carmelian Contrast Layering and Terrane Khaki Mica Metallic. You can pair those colours with a new interior palette of Flare Red and Black and Orange.
It goes without saying that a car like this won’t come cheap. In fact, the LC 500 has gone above the RM940,000 price and settled on a lofty RM1,250,000 with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty. At least the price quoted is on-the-road without insurance, which makes it an affordable supercar. No?
