A Turbocharged Honda Accord Will Be Hitting Our Streets Soon

Honda’s small 1.5-litre turbocharged engine has proven itself to be quite malleable when it comes to squeezing more horses while keeping it its size. The Civic’s produces 171hp/220Nm while the same in the CR-V generates 190hp/243Nm. And it appears that the engine can still churn out more.

In the upcoming 10th Generation Honda Accord, the same engine puts out 198hp and 260Nm of torque. Although the transmission is not mentioned, it’ll be safe to say that the 1.5-litre engine is paired with the CVT.

To jog the memory, the outgoing Accord’s 2.4-litre produces 173hp and 225Nm. So the new power figures are more befitting a flagship car. According to Honda, the all-new Accord will be more powerful than the last generation’s most powerful Accord. However, it has to be said that, somewhere in the world, there exists a more powerful Accord that draws power from a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine.

The increase in power particularly suits the fastback-styled body. It looks longer, is wider and has a lower roofline that makes the Accord looks sportier than before. Bookending the car are LED head and tail lights. Exhaust tips are finished in chrome, and the Accord will ride on 18-inch Alloy Wheels with Resonator.

The Accord comes standard with all the card in the Honda Sensing deck. Also included in the list of safety features are the Smart Parking Assist System with Brake Assist (rear), Multi-View Camera System (360-degree Camera) and Honda LaneWatch.
