Singapore may like a lot of things from Malaysia that they won’t admit (read: street food), but there’s one thing they’ll have to finally come into terms with – our local talent.

Malaysian Teoh Ze Tong was recently crowned as the winner of Mediacorp’s talent competition, Star Search 2019.

The 26-year-old secured an acting deal with Mediacorp alongside the a second and third place winners; Herman Keh, 25, and Ye Jiayun, 17, who are both Singaporeans.

The talent search returned after a nine-year hiatus, as reported by the Straits Times.

Teoh says that he’s willing to join the TV station full-time following his win, in which he also received an Audi car.

The top 3 winners.
The Carousell assistant manager was touted as one of the favourites of the competition.

"It was actually a lot of pressure on me. I felt so stressed by those predictions and it was through the help of my mentor and staff that I was able to let go of those stresses and do well,” Teoh told the Straits Times.

The competition’s panel of judges consists of Hong Kong actors Carina Lau, Simon Yam and Stephen Fung, Mediacorp's chief content officer Doreen Neo, and Man Shu Sum.

Congratulations Teoh! We hope you won’t forget your fellow Malaysians who are rooting for you from across the Causeway.
