After almost two years of lockdowns, things started getting back into full swing, with numerous concerts being held and many food establishments popping up. Many of us foodies rejoiced at the fact that we could dine in again!

We tried out many outlets –– and put on a few kilograms along the way –– so here’s our list of the best food stops we made at Rojak Daily:

Pasadena Burger & Coffee, KL

Our team love our burgers but having an A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Burger was something else. Putting together a highly ranked grade of one of the most exquisite meats in the world and imported brioche buns, resulted in a perfectly executed burger that treated us to a slice of heaven. If it weren’t for the steep price tag of RM105 per burger and the thought of our cholesterol levels, we’d probably be having it way more often.

Ferment Boulangerie, Ipoh

While people usually frequent the tin mining city for its street food, we were truly impressed with this boulangerie with a rustic modern interior tucked in Canning Garden serving up high-quality sweet and savoury bakes. We wish that this was closer to home for us as we were impressed by the Country Sourdough, Earl Grey Rose Cake, and garlic bread (yes, we’re old school that way) that we had.

We first mentioned it here.

Nada Natural Farming, Penang

When we first visited this place, we couldn’t believe that a restaurant located in Balik Pulau (which literally means ‘back of the island’) could be so crowded –– but there’s a good reason why. Set in an outdoor makeshift wooden structure amongst the greenery with some stray butterflies fluttering around, enjoy a great plate of fusion Squid & Ink pasta paired with a refreshing bottle of Roselle & Hibiscus kefir.

SmokePapa BBQ, Penang

We’re total carnivores here so we absolutely love a place that offers gorgeously barbecued meats. From pulled pork to stuffed turkey, everything we tried here was smoked slowly to perfection, Texas style and we’re still trying to plan our next visit. With their chef and owner formerly working at Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant in Marina Bay Sands, they also have a great backstory which you can read about here.
