Australia is currently facing one of the deadliest bushfires in history, which has claimed the lives of almost half a billion animals, leaving several species possibly on the brink of being endangered or extinct.
Hemsworth might be lucky that his house or neighbourhood might not be badly affected by the wildfire but the rest of the country sadly isn’t.
So, to help fight against the bushfires, the ‘Thor’ actor and his family have decided to donate AUD1,000,000 (RM2.82 million) for the cause.
“Hi everyone. Like you, I want to support the fight against the bushfires here in Australia. My family and I are contributing a million dollars,” Hemsworth wrote in an Instagram post.
“Hopefully you guys can chip in too. Every penny counts so whatever you can muster up is greatly appreciated.”
In the video posted, the actor said that the bushfires in Australia have caused “massive devastation” and they are still burning with challenging times ahead.
The video has received almost seven million views to date, and his fellow Avengers – Robert Downy Jr and Jeremy Renner, to name a few - have also pledged their support.
Let’s hope that with the mighty Thor’s influence, other celebrity friends will also chip in a million dollars to help fight the cause.
