While the COVID-19 pandemic started from China, the number of cases in the country has dropped significantly since then.

However, China recorded a spike of 61 cases recently - the highest daily figure since April.

Numbers going up!

According to a report in AFP quoting the National Health Commission 57 new domestic cases were found in the Xinjiang region due to a sudden outbreak in the regional capital of Urumqi which occurred in mid-July.

Fourteen domestic cases were also recorded in the northeastern province of Liaoning where a fresh cluster broke out in the city of Dalian last week.

Two more local cases were found in the neighbouring province of Jilin near the North Korean border while the last four infections being imported cases.

Not a good sign

Tests, tests and more tests.

Following that, mass testing has been carried out in Dalian and Urumqi, said the report quoting Global Times.

Perhaps we have all started to let our guards down?
