For a long time, there have been people who believe that Unidentified Flying Objects (UFO) and aliens exist, but there are just as many who dismiss such claims saying that these are just conspiracy theories.

Soon, the truth may come out, or so some people in the United States of America (USA) claim.

The US government just didn't want you to know

For some reason, just like in the movies, most UFO sightings seem to be reported in the US or Canada.

Maybe it’s just a perception, or it could just be that the US has been rumoured to be investigating the phenomenon for a long time, which it also confirmed in recent times.

While there has never been official confirmation of the existence of aliens, the Pentagon, i.e. the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense, has spoken about “unidentified aerial phenomena” (UAP) before.

Ex-Pentagon official Luis “Lue” Elizondo said that the government knows more than they are letting on for several reasons, including religious objections, concerns over tarnishing its own reputation and fears of inciting public panic.

In an interview with the New York Post, Elizondo said that despite mounting evidence, the government refused to take any action to deal with what he claims to be “a serious security issue”.

During his time at the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program between 2008 and 2017, Elizondo said that he interviewed military officials who come into contact with UFOs on an almost “daily basis”.

He also claimed to have examined all the reports on such sighting as well as other data such as radar and electro-optical data, one of which shows an “unknown aircraft zipping 60 miles in five seconds and descending at speeds of 14 miles per second.”

Elizondo quit his job after fighting for years to get those above him to take the “frightening” evidence he found seriously.

But why are we assuming that the UFOs, even if it belongs to aliens, are threats to the earth? Maybe they are just curious and want to be friends?

A little dodgy

Luis Elizondo

Anyway, Elizondo claims to have quit his job after years of trying to get someone to take his claims seriously, but he continued to research the phenomenon.

The Pentagon, however, has rubbished his claims of having worked with the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, saying that “Mr. Elizondo had no responsibilities with regards to the AATIP program while he worked in OUSDI [the Office of Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence], up until the time he resigned effective 10/4/2017.”

While he toned down slightly in the last few years, Elizondo has resurfaced again recently.

This could coincide with news that the Pentagon’s UFO unit is expected to make some of their findings public soon.

We are still sceptical about this character, but it is interesting to read about what he has to say!

What do you guys think? Do you believe that aliens exist?
