The Government Has Agreed To Further Lower The Ceiling Price Of Face Masks
With face masks made mandatory in public places, some poorer families are now forced to folk out more money on a monthly basis to purchase face masks.
Thankfully, the government has stepped in to ease the burden a little bit.
To help ease the burden
The government has set the retail ceiling price for three-ply face masks at RM1 per piece while the wholesaler cost has been set at 95 sen each, the New Straits Times reported. The retail ceiling price was announced by Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi at the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday (11 August).
This came after the government announced a new ceiling price of RM1.20 per piece just a month ago.

"The move to lower the ceiling price of face masks is a soft landing approach to allow available stocks that have been flown in earlier at a higher cost can be sold to reduce the losses.
On top of that, Alexandar revealed that the Ministry is "ready to bring down the ceiling price to an even lower level at any time in the future".
Alexander also added that the government had been careful to ensure that the quality of face masks sold would meet a certain standard.
Let's hope this would really help ease the burden for some families.
