Through an Instagram Story, Yew Sin shared screenshots of the disturbing messages he received following their first‑round exit at the Indonesia Masters on Tuesday, where they lost to a Chinese Taipei duo.

For context, the world No. 35 pair have suffered three consecutive first‑round exits at the Malaysia Open, India Open, and Indonesia Masters.

“You lost so badly that you can only be described as a fool. You would be better off retiring. Fools. When I say something, I mean it, and I will make it happen. I will use every means possible to force you to retire."

The message questioned whether Ong would continue competing at the Indonesia Masters, pointing out that his first‑round opponents were the eighth‑seeded Taiwanese pair. It went on to criticise his recent performances, noting that he had suffered an upset loss to veteran players before losing again to a relatively unknown pairing.

The sender further disparaged Ong’s standard of play, claiming that he was undeserving of facing seeded opponents or competing at the highest level, and accused him of being a burden to the team.

"You and Ee Yi had better be careful. If these poor performances continue and you keep losing to opponents you should be beating, one day, if I come to watch you play in person, I will injure you."

"I will bring a knife and injure Ee Yi’s hand, forcing you to either change partners or retire,” the messages read.

The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has raised serious concerns over the matter and strongly condemned individuals who post abusive comments or threats against national players on social media.

Last year, similar online threats also affected other players, including Malaysia’s top‑ranked men’s doubles pair, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik.
