Angry. Demotivated. Sad.

That's what one would usually feel when vandals destroy all your hard work in just a blink of an eye.

That's also what the artist felt when vandals destroyed his mural early this week.

'It makes me very angry'

Mural artist Muhammad Suhaimi Ali is left heartbroken and disillusioned after vandals destroyed the 'COVID-19 Heroes' mural he spent weeks working on, The Star Online reported.

Muhammad Suhaimi Ali - who worked on the mural with two of his friends, 26-year-old Muhamad Firdaus Nordin and Abdul Hadi Ramli, 27 - also said that he is extremely angry.

"We had put in so much effort to create the murals and someone actually had the audacity to destroy them.

"It also makes me very angry," he was quoted as saying.

The mural, which was painted on the wall of a building at Taman Cahaya Alam in Section U12, Shah Alam, include the portraits of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Since the mural was publicised, it had received a stream of visitors including Sultan Abdullah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, as well as Dr Noor Hisham.

Muhammad Suhaimi said the Prime Minister was scheduled to visit the site this week, but the mural had since been repainted over by the Shah Alam Municipal Council.

Despite the disappointment he felt, Muhammad Suhaimi told the news portal that he will be repainting the portraits in the near future after he finds a vandal-proof location.

Meanwhile, the authorities are hunting down the vandals as a police report has been made:

We hope they catch the vandals soon and make them pay for ruining someone's hard work.
