Police are investigating a viral video that shows a motorcyclist being slapped by another individual at a petrol station in Taman Perling in Johor.
Acting Johor Bahru North District Police Chief, Superintendent Azrol Anuar Nor, said the video was uploaded by the Facebook account “Komuniti Johor” and is believed to have occurred at 6:50 PM on 11 January.
Although the exact sequence of events remains unclear, the video shows a man and a woman being abruptly stopped by an individual on another motorcycle. The accused is then seen approaching and slapping the man.

He subsequently appears to display some form of identification before taking the victim’s belongings and instructing him to pull over to the side of the petrol station.
“Preliminary investigations found that the individual involved has been identified as a police officer attached to the Johor Bahru North District Police Headquarters (IPD) and was on leave at the time of the incident,” he said in a statement.
He added that no police report has been lodged regarding the incident so far. However, the victim has been identified and efforts are currently underway to locate him to assist with the investigation.
“The police take seriously any offence or misconduct involving police officers or personnel. Therefore, an internal investigation has been initiated and firm action will be taken if any violation of the law or established disciplinary regulations is found,” he added.

The public is advised not to speculate about the incident and is urged to cooperate by providing any relevant information. The police have assured that the investigation will be conducted transparently, fairly and with integrity.
