Hannah Yeoh calls for an investigation
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh confirmed that the matter has been escalated to the police. She said enforcement authorities were alerted soon after the video gained attention.
In a statement, Yeoh said Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) had been directed to look into the case without delay. She stressed that any exploitation of perceived authority to extract money from businesses would not be tolerated.

“There will be no compromise. Should investigations confirm the allegations, those responsible will be removed from their positions,” she said, adding that the Federal Territories administration takes a firm stance against protection rackets and the use of intermediaries to pressure traders.
Yeoh also called on members of the public who may have encountered similar situations to report them. Information can be channelled to the Federal Territories Department Integrity Unit, DBKL, or the Malaysian Anti‑Corruption Commission (MACC).
DBKL denies involvement
Following the public backlash, DBKL have distanced itself from the issue. In a statement, the local authority said it was not connected to the individuals or the actions depicted in the video.

DBKL emphasised that it does not condone or practise any form of extortion, abuse of power or unofficial dealings with business owners, and that the remarks made in the recording were not made on behalf of the agency.
Authorities have yet to verify the identities or official status of the two men seen in the footage. Investigations remain ongoing as officials seek to determine whether the claims made during the encounter amounted to a criminal offence.
Meanwhile, it was reported that one of the men in the video has lodged a police report denying that he was at the massage parlour to solicit “protection money.”
