Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and while we wrack our brains about what to do for that special someone, this guy has already one-upped the world.
US filmmaker Lee Loechler brought the entire internet to tears with an epic proposal that included reanimating himself as prince charming and his sweetheart Sthuthi David as Sleeping Beauty in the classic animated film (which is David’s favourite movie).
Six months in the making
According to a report in The Star, Lee Loechler took six months to secretly edit the scene with the help of Australian animator Kayla Coombs.
The scene chosen was the one when Princess Aurora is awoken from her sleeping curse by a kiss from Prince Phillip.
In the video of the elaborate proposal, Loechler is seen sitting beside David in a movie theatre while the edited scene unfolds.
A surprising twist
After the kiss wakes the sleeping princess up, ‘Prince Philip’ then suddenly holds up a ring box and throws it at Loechler, who catches it IRL!
He then gets down on one knee and proposes to David.
“I love you with my whole heart, including all of its ventricles, atriums, valves,” he said while pausing to explain to the audience that “she’s a cardiologist.”
His unsuspecting girlfriend looked extremely shocked but eventually said ‘yes’.
“For the past six months, I’ve been animating my girlfriend and myself into her favourite movie, Sleeping Beauty. With the help of some local Redditors, I popped the question in a ‘crowded’ movie theatre,” he posted on Reddit.
He shared that he filled the theatre with friends, family, and strangers he found on Reddit, and they were all in on it.
