M’sian Fined RM800 for Slapping GF After She Got Angry at Him for Ignoring Her ‘Good Morning’ Message

An unanswered text from someone you love and care about can be pretty painful, however, a 20-year-old factory storekeeper from Batu Pahat may have taken this to the extreme after he took matters into his own hands by assaulting his girlfriend who was angry that he didn’t reply to her “good morning” message.

Court proceedings stated that the altercation occurred at a pet shop on Jalan Parit Bilal at around 12:15 pm on October 10. Charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code, the man faced the possibility of up to one year in prison or a fine of up to RM2,000.
It was revealed that the girlfriend had come to his workplace with lunch and that she was unhappy that her "good morning sayang" message went unanswered on WhatsApp.

This led to a heated verbal exchange, resulting in him slapping her left cheek, causing minor injuries.
Following the incident, the victim sought treatment at Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital and promptly reported the matter to the Batu Pahat District Police Headquarters.
