“My hope is that my effort can benefit everyone” – M’sian TikToker Plans to Clean 30 Suraus This Ramadan

If Khairul Aming is known for his ‘30 Hari 30 Resipi’ cooking series during Ramadan, another man is making a name for himself by planning to clean 30 suraus over the 30 days of Ramadan.

In fact, he initiated his plan yesterday by cleaning a surau at Petronas Bandar Baru Nilai. It took him about two hours to deep clean the facility.

In a TikTok video, the man, known by his username Rusydi, said he had reviewed a number of public suraus in the past and was heartbroken to see the state of hygiene in some of them. Thus, he decided to clean some of them throughout Ramadan.

According to him, he did not receive any payment for cleaning the surau. He also added that all the equipment used was bought with his own money.

Rusydi’s effort has garnered many positive reactions from TikTok users. While many praised him, some offered a word of advice for Rusydi to wear gloves as he cleans to avoid any bacterial infection.

When asked whether he will open a donation fund to support his project, Rusydi said he will not be accepting help in the form of money but encouraged others to donate cleaning supplies or volunteer instead.
