The Mysterious Disappearance of Datin Pamela Ling: What We Know So Far
On April 9, 2025, a woman named Datin Seri Pamela Ling Yueh was reported missing while on her way to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Penang.
While en route, the Grab driver who was ferrying Pamela claimed his car was blocked by three other vehicles before three individuals came out of the car and told him that Pamela needed to be detained to assist in an investigation. After some talking, Pamela agreed to go with them.
However, as of today, the exact location and the wellbeing of Pamela were unknown, and the police have launched an investigation of the possible abduction.
Here's what we know about Datin Seri Pamela Ling:
- Datin Seri Pamela Ling Yueh, 42, is the wife of Sarawakian businessman Datuk Seri Thomas Hah Tiing Siu.
- She was a mother of three and is believed to have originated from Sibu, Sarawak.
- Pamela had been residing in Singapore since 2008, where she ran a property management company.

- Pamela's husband, Thomas, is the founder of Joinland Group, a diversified Malaysian conglomerate with interests including property development, plantations, agriculture and insurance. The group are said to have operations and investments in multiple countries like Singapore, Brunei & Australia.
- Both Pamela and her husband are being investigated by MACC over a money laundering case.
- Pamela and her husband are in the midst of a highly acrimonious divorce in both Singapore and Malaysia involving a substantial estate.
- She was last known to be residing in Cheras alone.
Timeline of Datin Seri Pamela Ling's disappearance
April 9

- Pamela Ling began her journey from her home in Cheras. She took a Grab and was heading to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.
- Based on the last known location of her mobile phone, Pamela was said to be near MEX Highway, close to Bandar Putra Permai.
- Pamela sent a WhatsApp message to her lawyer to inform them that she was on her way to MACC and was expected to arrive by 2:08 pm.
- Pamela's family and lawyer were unable to reach her.
- Pamela's lawyer lodged a police report regarding her disappearance at Precinct 7 police station.
April 10
Pamela's lawyer lodged a second police report regarding her disappearance at the Seri Kembangan police station.
May 2
- A media statement was issued by Pamela's family to appeal to the public for help in locating her.
- Pamela's family claimed that the GRAB car Pamela was in was intercepted by three vehicles before she was instructed to enter one of them.
May 3

- Kuala Lumpur Chief of Police, Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa, confirmed the case is currently being investigated under Section 365 of the Penal Code for abduction or kidnapping with intent to wrongfully confine a person.
- Statements from several witnesses were taken, including MACC officers, Pamela's lawyer, family members and husband.
May 4
- No new developments in the case were reported, and Pamela still remains missing.
- A total of 12 individuals have had their statements recorded.
- Checks have been conducted with the Immigration Department on Pamela's travel records.
- No ransom demand had been received.
May 6

- The Grab driver who was ferrying Pamela on the day of her disappearance said Pamela had been taken by several individuals posing as police officers.
- The driver, known only as Kok, recalled that on the day, he and Pamela didn't speak much in the car, but she did make one phone call in which Kok said he couldn't clearly hear the conversation.
- When they were nearing the MACC building, three cars suddenly appeared and boxed them in from the front, back and side.
- Kok recalled two men and a woman came out from two of the vehicles. The woman and one man were wearing a uniform resembling the police attire, while the other man wore a vest labelled ‘Police’.
- Kok said he was told that Pamela was being detained to assist in an investigation based on a police report. Initially, Pamela refused to exit the vehicle, which led the uniformed woman to try pulling her out by force. Pamela eventually complied and handed out RM100 for the fare to Kok.
- Kok stated he was then ordered to press the ‘complete trip’ button in the GRAB app before the group took his identity card, driver's licence and phone number and fled the scene. Kok lodged a police report immediately.

- Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, confirmed an investigation is underway to determine whether Pamela was taken by actual police officers or impostors.
- Police investigations are now focusing on the possibility that Pamela's husband and several others may be involved in her disappearance.
- The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was instructed to form a special task force to investigate Pamela's case.
