Having a baby is one of the most beautiful experiences for a woman.

Well, not really for this Malaysian moment.

Costly accident

What was supposed to be a joyous moment for Bushra Abd Razak turned into quite a nightmare after she found that her doctors accidentally left something inside her body.

According to a report by Free Malaysia Today, Bushra was admitted to a government hospital on 8 January this year due to contraction pains and reduced fetal movement.

Doctors then decided that her delivery should be done via a Caesarean section the next day.

Two days after welcoming her bundle of joy, the 29-year-old was discharged from the hospital, but unfortunately for her, she began experiencing severe pain in her belly soon after.

The pain was reportedly more significant on the left side of her body, and it hurt every time she moved or changed body positions.

When she consulted one of the doctors who operated her on the matter on 21 January, she was told that the pain was normal.

However, after a couple more days, Bushra decided to ask for a second opinion at a private hospital when the pain did not subside.

It was after undergoing an X-ray that doctors managed to pinpoint the source of Bushra's pain: a pair of surgical artery forceps had been left behind in her stomach.

Bushra said that she had to undergo another emergency surgery to remove the forceps while she was still recovering from her first surgery.

Bushra then filed a lawsuit against the government, the hospital and the two doctors who performed the surgery on her for medical negligence.

Bushra’s lawyer, Aloysius Cornelius Susek, mentioned that all parties in the case had agreed to a settlement without a trial.

That sounds extremely painful. We hope that Bushra is recovering well.
